What will we be doing in the New Heaven and New Earth?

So this question is a bit dependent on where you will be or more appropriately, where the Lord will have you working geographically after the final battle with Satan. The Old Testament prophets are fairly consistent with their descriptions of what is happening during the millennial reign of Christ (global recognition of the Lord and Yeshua, rebuilding, decontamination, global honoring of the feasts and festivals, etc...)

However the descriptions for when the Lord is "making all things new" is a bit scant comparatively when you realize it is eternity versus the small amount of time that directly preceded it (a mere 7000 yrs approximately).

It is important to understand the narrative in Revelation is the culmination of God's plan to reconcile humanity back to Him. The original plan was to have mankind as a steward over the Earth,…

Eric, once again, well written and thought out, so, your best guess?

So this is the introduction to the wonderful world of Linguistics and word etymology (it can be bland and boring, just a warning). Most of this is from memory, so let me know if I misremembered anything.

Hebrew / Greek / Germanic-Scandinavian / English

SHEOL / HADES / HEL / HELL

The words Sheol, Hades and Hel have approximately the same meaning and usage for their respective cultural-language groups, they are all referencing the underworld where souls go after death.

Curiously Sheol and Hel both have the grave as an entrance to the underworld. All the underworlds are down in the earth, beneath the ground.

Most modern translations will spell out "the grave" or "death" rather than use the Hebrew word Sheol in the Old Testament. The same is typical when the Greek word Hades is used in the New Testament, except substituted with Hell.

Just wanted to mention this when we were discussing the 144,000 praising God in front of his throne last Wednesday, it appears to indicate they will be praising him while still on Earth, not in heaven.

Jer 3:17 At that time they will call Jerusalem The Throne of the Lord, and all nations will gather in Jerusalem to honor the name of the Lord. No longer will they follow the stubbornness of their evil hearts. 18 In those days the people of Judah will join the people of Israel, and together they will come from a northern land to the land I gave your ancestors as an inheritance.

Totally agree Eric.

Who is "he who now letteth" in Paul's epistle to the church at Thessaloniki?

The Restrainer Is Removed

2 Thessalonians 2:6-7   And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.  7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

The Apostle Paul is a bit cryptic in this verse in 2 Thessalonians regarding the restrainer has sparked diverse interpretations among biblical scholars and theologians. Thereby leading to a variety of differing interpretations among Bible students, scholars, and theologians. The verse in question is part of a larger passage discussing the coming of the "man of lawlessness" which I have identified as the "Antichrist."

The passage discusses the anticipated arrival of the 'man of lawlessness,' commonly associated with the 'Antichrist.' The phrase 'he who now letteth,' as rendered in the King…

So this was one last point I forgot to specify, I understand our church tradition has generally identified the Holy Spirit as the restrainer (especially in the last few centuries), however I would be remiss if it was not pointed out in the scriptures that Satan will be restrained by another after our Lord's return.

Rev 20:1 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3 He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.

We need to address the shortcomings in church traditions (as the Messiah warned his followers to do while he was walking on the earth) because the alternative is very destructive to what we have been commanded to do (spread the gospel and obey his commandments).

If we propagate that only the Holy Spirit can restrain Satan, than we have a major problem.

Either Yeshua lied, the apostle John misunderstood him or our church tradition is incorrect.

If Yeshua lied, then all Christianity is a sham.

If John misunderstood, then all his writings come into question.

however if only our church tradition is incorrect, we simply change it to reflect the totality of the scriptures.
